DEF ; The process of collecting data by observing the behavior or events is called observation. Observing means the use of eye + ear than a mouth in observation process.
EXPLANATION ;
- It is the used for data collection for a research – for both qualitative and also quantitative data research .
- This tool used by a psychologist and also that by social sciences for various researches .
- It is also used by teachers now a days for observing the student behavior towards study-means which is hardworking etc.
Requirements for observation
The following tools are required to sort out the observation in a well manner by a researcher .
- Field notes ;
Field notes are required for observation use by researcher to save a research data – human don not have such memory like rebot to remember the data more than 2 days.
- Observation guide ;
Observation guide a procedure means what is best way to observe accurately –It consist of questonaires .A researcher form a question which the participant answer it for data collection of a research.
Methods of observation
The methods of observation is based on researcher involvement or dis-involvement for collecting a research data .
- Participant observation ;
When the researcher is involved for collecting a research data or researcher itself be a part of study then this type of observation is called participant observation .
- Direct observation ;
when the researcher does not involved in collecting the research data but to observe the participants only
then this observation is called direct observation .
- Notification ;
Notification means to instruct or inform .
Notification in the sense of observation may be in the form of
a)covert b) overt
a) covert ;
when the respondent is un-aware of being observed by a researcher is called covert observation.
b) overt ;
- It is the reverse of covert observation.
when the respondent is aware of being observed by a researcher is called overt observation .
BENEFITS OF OBSERVATION
- It is free from personal bias ; the researcher don’t have to be personal issues with the respondent .
- It depict the respondent as it as he \ she is .
- It also free from the participant past and future .the researcher only to observe the behavior presently .
- It is better to communicate for more detail of his observation
Than to study only his behavior through see.
Limitation of observation
- It is time taking and expensive .
- It provides only limited information.
- The observation may be wrong .
- A proper training is required for observation.
Observation may also be a controlled or un-controlled situation
Control observation ;
- It is un-natural
- To use precision like artist.
Un-control observation ;
- It is natural .
- It have no precision .
Dear students we are focusing to build such type of community which is to make the students help in study more easy and tricky ;so plz stay tuned with the blog .if have any ambiguity so feel free to say in comment section .
